Introduction

See the 💻 Try Goal link at the top-right of this site? It's a WASM Goal interpeter that runs completely in your browser. 🖱️ Click it, keep it open on one half of your screen, and try all the examples on this site and Goal's official site by entering them by hand, evaluating them, and tinkering with them until you understand them.

On your own machine after ⎘ installing Goal, the goal command starts an interactive REPL by default. Examples of Goal REPL sessions on this site follow Goal's pattern: two spaces for the REPL prompt with evaluation results printed on a new line without indentation. For example:
